Copyright Disclaimer
Clipscutter.com ("we," "our," or "us") provides a tool that lets users trim and save clips from videos they link to on https://clipscutter.com (the "Website"). Using our Service does not give you any ownership of, or license to, the original video, its audio, music, images, or captions, and it does not give you permission to download, copy, or republish that material.
1. Check Your Rights Before Making a Clip
Before creating, downloading, or sharing a clip, you must make sure that you have the right to do so. In practice, this means at least one of the following applies:
You own the content, or the content is your own upload.
You have permission (a license) from the copyright owner.
The content is in the public domain or published under a license that allows your use (for example, certain Creative Commons licenses).
Your use falls under a legal exception that applies in your country.
A single video can involve several rights holders, for example the video producer, the record label, the music publisher, and the performers. A video being publicly viewable on YouTube does not mean it is free to download, edit, or reuse. A paid Clipscutter plan changes the features available to you; it does not change the rights attached to any video.
2. A Short Clip Is Not Automatically Allowed
There is no clip length that is automatically safe. Copyright exceptions differ from country to country. In the United States, fair use depends on the purpose of the use, the nature of the work, the amount used, and the effect on the market for the original. In the European Union and Spain, exceptions such as quotation, parody, or private copying are narrower and come with their own conditions. Adding a credit line or labelling a clip as "educational" does not by itself make the use lawful. If you are unsure, seek independent legal advice before using the content.
3. Music and Commercial Content
Commercially released music, music videos, films, TV shows, and sports broadcasts are almost always protected and are distributed under licenses that do not cover downloading through third-party tools. Do not use Clipscutter.com to obtain copies of this type of content without the authorization of the rights holders.
4. YouTube's Terms Also Apply
Platform rules are separate from copyright law. When you submit a YouTube link, you remain responsible for complying with YouTube's Terms of Service. You must not use our Service to bypass access restrictions, such as private, age-restricted, region-restricted, or paid content.
5. Content Blocked at the Request of Rights Holders
We honour requests from copyright owners and their authorized representatives. When a video or channel has been blocked, the Service will refuse to process it and will show a message that the video is protected by its copyright owner. Attempting to get around a block, for example by using mirror links or re-uploads, is a breach of our Terms of Service.
6. Independent Service
Clipscutter.com is an independent service. It is not operated, sponsored, or endorsed by YouTube or Google LLC. The names "YouTube" and "Google" are used only to identify the platform that a link comes from, and all trademarks belong to their respective owners.
7. Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the clips you create and for how you use or share them. Accounts that repeatedly misuse the Service to infringe copyright may be restricted or terminated, as described on our Copyright Claims page.
8. Report a Copyright Concern
If you own the rights to content that can be processed through Clipscutter.com, or you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner, you can ask us to block specific videos or entire channels. Submitting a report blocks the content on Clipscutter.com only. It does not remove the original video from YouTube.
Want content blocked? Use the Report DMCA form to send us video links or channel links. We will get back to you within 24 hours.
